兵庫県宝塚市出身。
大学卒業後金融機関に勤務。
内外の古いものに惹かれ、繊細な手わざに触れる中で仕覆と出会い制作をはじめる。
大好きな骨董や大切な器などに仕覆をまとわせ、日々の暮らしの中で楽しむことを提案、仕覆の素晴らしさを広く世界に発信したいと考えている。

ARTIST PROFILE
A native of Takarazuka City in Hyogo Prefecture, Makiko Tanaka pursued a career in finance after her university graduation. Her fascination with ancient artifacts and traditional craftsmanship from both Japan and abroad inspired her to start creating pouches, known as shifuku. Makiko is passionate about integrating these elegant pouches into daily life to enhance the appreciation of beloved antiques and vessels. She aims to spread the appeal and cultural significance of shifuku globally.

She is author of Shifuku-Making: Adding Joy to Tea Ceremonies and Vibrancy to Life with Unique, Heart-Embracing Pouches (Seibundo Shinkosha, 2018)
